I made a photogram of my own figure, printed photographs taken with a digital camera onto OHP film, and exposed them into the white areas in the manner of a contact printer.
On the floor I laid out photographs of many people — five hundred large-cabinet prints — over newspaper, arranged in a diamond.
The photograph on the wall is 180 by 80 centimetres; the one on the floor is 6 by 3 metres.

I made it thinking that the individual is part of a group. A group is shaped by information, and the group governs the individual.
The photographs of people spread across the floor stand for the group, the newspaper beneath them stands for information, and for the individual I arranged the scenes I had seen myself inside the outline of my own figure.
Laying the photographs out evenly makes them read as signs, and I took the title from semiotics, the study of natural and human phenomena from the standpoint of signs and signification.
