   The ground is covered over with a box, a single hole is opened in it, and the light coming through projects the scene in front of the box onto the ground.

   The ground and the pinhole scene overlap, and the grooves and grass of the ground create the illusion of branches and leaves.

2. 02
   

   There is a door on the left, and the light entering through it casts blue and brown onto the floor of the room.

   Those colours are the apartment building standing opposite the door, and the sky. The scene falls on the walls and ceiling as well.

3. 03
   

   Hang blackout cloth in a room and open a hole of about five millimetres in the window, and the scene outside appears — dim, but with its shapes legible.

   Light always falls inverted. Photograph the room with a digital camera and the image inside that camera is inverted too. An inverted pinhole image is recorded onto an inverted digital image.

   Inverted upon inverted is thoroughly confusing, but the tap tells you which way reality lies.

4. 04
   

   An attempt to cast the light released from a pinhole onto space itself.

   Taking a hint from “projecting a river onto a river” by Nobuo Yamanaka, who made strikingly new work with the pinhole: since light passes through space, this is an attempt at projecting the light of space onto the light of space.

   The subject is Mount Fuji, a landscape that stands for Japan.

5. 05
   

   In old houses a knot-hole in the storm shutter can become a pinhole camera and cast the landscape onto the paper screen.

   This work photographs the everyday scene of such a room in Iya, Tokushima, where many thatched roofs still stand.
